General Information
The Nursing Assistant course has two components: the theoretical portion which will be completed within a period of 60 hours conducted in the classroom (5297 Aero Dr Santa Rosa, CA) and 100 hours of supervised clinical training in an accredited and State-approved Long Term Care facility.
The courses use the American Red Cross curriculum and is taught by licensed nurses approved by the Department of Health Services and Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education.
Day classes take 22 days full-time or 42 days part-time (classes are Monday-Friday). Upon successful completion of the course, you will be qualified to take the State Competency Examination for C.N.A. certification.
The instructors deliver the course content through lectures, demonstrations and exposure of the students to actual nursing procedures and techniques while in the clinical setting. Knowledge validation is evaluated on an on-going basis through test and quizzes.
The educational objective of the Nursing Assistant Training Course is to prepare the nurse assistant for state certification and consequently function as an efficient, knowledgeable and safe Certified Nursing Assistant. The course is enhanced with the comprehensive training program.
All instructions emphasize the importance of delivering service that will maintain and or promote the optimum level of functioning by the client and carrying out duties in a sensitive and efficient manner.
The course:
- is accomplished in a period of either 4 or 8 weeks
- is divided into 2 components:
Theory: 60.0 hours
Clinical: 100.0 hours
CNA COURSE REQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least 16 years old
- Must be able to read English at the 5th grade level or higher
- Must possess a valid California ID and Social Security Number
- Must pass a physical exam within one year prior to class start date and a TB screening performed by your physician or Nurse Practitioner within six months prior to the orientation.
- Must pass the fingerprinting and criminal background screening (performed at the Red Cross during class).

Please note there is a mandatory orientation prior to the start of the course. Students who do not attend orientation or are significantly late will lose their seat and forfeit their deposit in the course.

Fees are payable in three installments:
- $250.00 upon registration
- $522.50 the 1st day of class
- $522.50 the 15th day of class plus state exam fee.
THE STATE BOARD EXAM FEE OF $90.00 SHOULD BE MADE PAYABLE TO RED CROSS SEPARATELY. PAYMENT CAN BE MADE WITH CASH, MONEY ORDER, OR CREDIT CARD (SORRY, NO PERSONAL CHECKS).
