Is the Red Cross in your will?
Is the Red Cross in your will, and you want your gift to stay local? Then be sure to use the following language: I give, devise, and bequeath to the American Red Cross, Sonoma & Mendocino Counties, the sum of ___________ (or otherwise describe the gift or specify a percentage of the estate).
Small or large, all bequests help the Red Cross make a difference in people’s lives
Many Red Cross donors tell us, “I’ve always believed in the Red Cross. But I’m not wealthy, and don’t have a lot to give.” Think again: if you own a home, your estate may be worth $500,000 or more. A small percentage of that estate can provide important support to our disaster relief.
Others say, “I’d like to support the Red Cross in my will, but family comes first.” We understand! Here’s an example of how that might work: Mrs. Jones, a widow, can leave either a specific dollar amount or a percentage of her estate, to her three children. She can split the remainder between two favorite charities, including our local Red Cross.
The amount most donors leave to our local Red Cross is the largest contribution they will ever make. Such contributions make all the difference to those we help. Learn more about making a gift that will help many others after you’re gone by contacting Greg Sabourin at 577-7634. Your compassion means our local Red Cross will always continue to help people who need us.
